Review Your Workout Plan Needs

The type of workout plan you follow should dictate the type of gear you buy.  There is no sense in spending on a treadmill or full rack of weights if that’s not something you do or plan to do.

The best at home gym is one full of gear you’ll use so be sure to review your plan and make a shopping list that fits your workout needs.

This gym has more hardcore equipment but is still simple. You can step your gym up a notch and cater to what your specific goals are.

Carve Out A Space In Your Home

Once you’ve decided what type of gear you need be sure to take the time to carve out a space or various spaces in your home where you know you’ll be able to use your gear.

For some people it can be one corner in an office space or guest room.  For others it can be half a garage space or an entire unused room plus a small space in the TV room or bedroom.

The goal is to make it as convenient and as hidden or as visible as you need it to be.

Budget That’s Right For You

Now that you have your gear list and your space carved out you’ll need to set a budget.  This is important whether you have just $250 to spend or $2500+ to spend.

A budget will help you prioritize what is most important for your home gym.  Maybe you can afford to splurge on the treadmill or bike because you’ll be doing most of your weight lifting in the gym.

Maybe you only need balls, ropes, weights and a bench because you do all your cardio outdoors and only go to the gym for yoga or spinning.

Sometimes just one good piece of gear like a portable cable system or a suspension trainer is all you need! In the video here you can see how our dream gym turned out.
